Emergency shelter Asylum ship De Holland

Shelter and support
Since the end of November, the passenger ship ‘De Holland’ has docked in the harbor of Ridderkerk as an asylum ship. The ship is a reception location for asylum seekers, as a backup for the AZC Ter Apel, which is currently overcrowded.

For the time being, the Gemeente Ridderkerk has granted a permit until February 1, 2022.

The role of the Stichting Integratie in Ridderkerk (SIR)
On board the ship, the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) is responsible for the well-being of the asylum seekers.

The Gemeente Ridderkerk has asked Facet Ridderkerk, the welfare organization of the Municipality, to organize and coordinate activities in cooperation with the COA, aimed at the welfare and well-being of the people on board the ship during their stay in the Ridderkerk harbor.

Based on our experience in contacts with status holders, SIR participates in organizing and executing various activities. We work closely together with the Ridderkerk Werkgroep Vluchtelingen, which, amongst others, was very active in the former AZC Beverwaard.

How can you help?
We don’t need to introduce the clients. If you follow the news, you know enough about the misery these people had to flee and where they left everything behind.

Do you have a heart for people in need? Then we need you.
